If you love peanut butter, this Peanut Butter Pie is about to become your new favorite. It starts with a homemade Oreo crust and is filled with a light, fluffy peanut butter whipped cream thatโ€™s full of that sweet, sweet peanut butter flavor. You can even choose between creamy or crunchy peanut butter to get the texture that suits your fancy.

While we love this with an Oreo crust, you could always switch things up by using a traditional pie crust, a graham cracker crust, or try our shortbread pie crust.

Why Our Recipe

  • Homemade Oreo crust with a light and fluffy peanut butter whipped cream filling.
  • Maximum peanut butter flavor using either creamy or crunchy peanut butter.

This pie is perfect for any occasion, whether you’re whipping it up for a party, Thanksgiving, or just because youโ€™re craving something sweet. While the crust is baked, the filling is totally no-bake which always makes for a convenient pie.

Ingredient Notes

  • Oreos: You’ll need 24 regular Oreos for the crust. No need to remove the fillingโ€”just crush the whole cookies. If you want to switch it up, you can use any other chocolate sandwich cookies or one of Oreo’s many varieties of flavors.
  • Butter: Salted or unsalted butter works fine here. Just make sure it’s fully melted before mixing it with the crushed Oreos.
  • Peanut Butter: You can use either creamy or crunchy peanut butter based on your texture preference. Just stick with regular peanut butter and avoid natural varieties, which can be too oily for the filling to set properly.
  • Powdered Sugar: This helps sweeten the filling without adding any grittiness.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream: It can be labeled heavy cream or whipping cream, either will work.
  • Instant Nonfat Dry Milk: This stabilizes the whipped cream, helping it hold its shape. Youโ€™ll usually find it in the baking aisle near other powdered milk products. If you canโ€™t find it, you can leave it out, but the filling may soften a little quicker.

Topping Ideas

Chocolate Drizzle: A little chocolate syrup or melted chocolate drizzled on top adds a nice touch of sweetness and enhances that classic peanut butter and chocolate combo.

Chopped Peanuts: For some extra crunch, sprinkle chopped peanuts over the top. This is especially great if youโ€™re using creamy peanut butter in the filling and want a bit of texture.

Mini Chocolate Chips: Scatter some mini chocolate chips on top for fun. Itโ€™s a quick and easy way to add more chocolate to each bite.

Whipped Cream: Add dollops of freshly whipped cream or use canned whipped cream for convenience. You can even pipe it into fancy swirls for a fancy look.

Crushed Oreos: Sprinkle a few extra crushed Oreos on top to bring everything together. Itโ€™s a simple way to highlight the Oreo crust and adds a bit more crunch.

Peanut Butter Drizzle: Melt a little peanut butter in the microwave and drizzle it over the pie for an extra hit of peanut butter goodness.

Freezing Instructions

To freeze the whole Peanut Butter Pie, place it uncovered in the freezer for 1-2 hours until firm. Once solid, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and then a layer of aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy, thaw the pie in the fridge overnight before serving.
